A man wanted by police over the fatal stabbing of a bus driver was arrested at Notting Hill Carnival.
Police had been hunting Kamar Williams, 33, after the fatal stabbing of Derek Thomas, 53, who was killed in a Northwold Road, Stoke Newington, on July 30.
The Stoke Newington man was reportedly attacked at 11.05pm on his way home from work at the Northumberland Park bus garage in Tottenham, where he worked for transport company Go-Ahead London.
He was described as a “true gentleman” by a colleague.
Williams, who lives in the Isle of Dogs but is also known to frequent both east and south east London, was stopped and arrested at Notting Hill Carnival on Monday (August 26).
He was today (Tuesday, August 27) charged with murder and possession of a knife and is set to appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (August 28).
The Metropolitan Police released an appeal to find Williams on August 4, a day after a woman, 30, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. She was later released on bail.
