Former pupils and staff are being urged to attend the final fete of a 162-year-old school that is being shut down at the end of term.
Colvestone Primary School in Dalston is one of four primary schools Hackney Council is closing this summer.
The decision came amid declining pupil rolls in the borough and a need to ease financial pressure on school budgets.
Pupils at Colvestone can take up a place at Princess May Primary School in September, in what the council describes as a “merger” of the two schools.
This weekend, Colvestone will host its final school fete, ahead of its closure at the end of this month.
The school in Colvestone Crescent plans to provide an afternoon of entertainment for pupils.
Activities include live music, face painting, a bouncy castle, games, a magician, a raffle, a BBQ, food, drink, cake, and a playground disco.
Parent Mike Cooter said the school hopes to attract former pupils, staff and families that have a connection to the school so that they can “share their stories and celebrate its great history”.
He added: “The school is a fantastically happy place, and we plan to go out with a party!”
The event will run from 2pm until 7pm on Saturday (July 6) on the school grounds.
