A little girl is fighting for her life in hospital after she was shot while having dinner at a restaurant with her family.

Police were called to Kingsland High Street at 9.20pm yesterday evening (May 29) after three men and a nine-year girl were shot.

The gun was fired from a stolen motorbike that was later found nearby in Colverstone Crescent.

The three men – aged 26, 37 and 42 – were rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds.

Their condition has been described as stable, but one potentially faces life-changing injuries.

The nine-year-old girl was having dinner at the restaurant when she suffered a gunshot wound. She remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Police have said they do not believe that she was known to the injured men, describing her as “an innocent victim of the indiscriminate nature of gun crime”.

Officers arrived at the scene of the shooting within minutes, and a crime scene remains in place in Kingsland High Street.

Another crime scene is in place in Colverstone Crescent, where the stolen motorbike believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered.

No arrests have been made and police say they are keeping an “open mind” as to the motive.

Officers have asked for any witnesses, or for those who were in the Kingsland High Street area at the time of the shooting to come forward.

Metropolitan Police Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway said: “Locally, people can expect to see a significant police presence in this area, including armed officers, to provide reassurance and support.

“We will also continue our unrelenting focus on suppressing violence, gun crime, and the offenders who endanger our communities.

“Events such as these are rarely spontaneous. Someone knows who is responsible for this shooting that has left a little girl fighting for her life.”
