A woman has died after a fire in a basement.
Firefighters were called to a small fire in the basement of a mid-terraced house in Shepherdess Walk, Hoxton, after an automatic fire alarm went off this morning (March 26).
Ten fire engines and 10 firefighters were sent at 6.02am.
The fire was under control by 6.53am.
A woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the London Fire Brigade says.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
