Pupils’ performance at Hackney schools has continued to improve over the past year.
According to a recent annual report, Hackney schools performed well in all areas compared to national levels.
For Key Stage 2, from ages 7 to 11, Hackney ranked sixth amongst 153 local authorities, with 70% of pupils meeting all expected standards in 2023, surpassing the national average by 10%.
Individual subjects also saw significant improvement.
Since 2019, Hackney has moved from 101st to 14th for reading, risen from tenth to fourth for writing, and jumped from 107th to 11th position in maths.
Also, at Key Stage 4, 53.4% of Hackney pupils attained level 5 in English and maths, nearly 8% better than the national average of 45.5%.
All children outperformed the national cohort in 2023.
Cllr Anntoinette Bramble said: "We’re incredibly proud of our young people, who have shown us once again their ambition and hard work, reflected in their excellent school results, both at primary and secondary level.
"We want Hackney to be a place where every child has the chance to thrive.
"We will continue to focus our time and resources investing in supporting the groups that need it the most."
