Police are investigating after a woman died in a blaze in a flat.
Six fire engines and around 30 firefighters responded to a fire in a five-storey building in Homerton High Street, Hackney, just before 8.25am on Saturday (January 6).
Part of a ground floor flat was damaged by the flames.
A woman was found in the flat and pronounced dead at the scene, London Fire Brigade said.
The brigade's control officers took the first of seven calls reporting the fire at 8.23am, and the fire was under control by 9.39am.
Firefighters from Homerton, Leyton, Stoke Newington and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is under investigation by the fire brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
