A resident has been taken to hospital after a suspected boiler explosion in Hackney.
London Fire Brigade (LFB) said that they received three calls about the incident in Well Street just after 2.30am this morning (December 23).
One resident was rescued by firefighters from the first floor of a three-storey block of flats using a ladder.
They were treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service (LAS).
A five-roomed flat was damaged in the explosion, as well as the front and rear of the building.
LFB used a 25-metre cordon to block of the scene while crews dealt with the aftermath of the explosion.
The incident was declared “under control” shortly after 4am.
Firefighters from Homerton, Edmonton, Bethnal Green and Shoreditch stations attended the scene.
Hackney Police confirmed that its officers also responded to reports of the explosion.
We supported @LondonFire at a residential gas explosion early Saturday morning. All residents are well and with friends or family, with one treated for minor injuries at the scene. We thank the fire service for the quick response and will ensure the owner makes the building safe.
