The family of a woman fatally gunned down in Hackney have described her as having “a heart of gold”.
Lianne Gordon, 42, died from gunshot wounds after the incident in Vine Close, Lower Clapton, on Tuesday evening (December 5).
Her family have now paid tribute in a statement released through the police. They said: "Lianne had a heart of gold, we her family are going to miss her immensely.”
Flowers were also laid close to a police cordon yesterday (December 6) alongside a card which said: “To Lianne: Such a beautiful soul gone too soon!”
At around 6.30pm on the evening of Lianne’s death, police attended Vine Close after receiving reports that shots had been fired.
Lianne was pronounced dead at the scene, while two other victims - a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy – were rushed to hospital for treatment. Neither of them is in a life-threatening condition.
Police are now investigating whether the shooting is linked to reports of shots being fired in Vine Close on Saturday evening (December 2).
Officers found shell casings at the scene, but there was no trace of any victim or suspect.
No motive has been given for the shooting, but speaking close to the crime scene in Rendlesham Road yesterday, Hackney Chief Superintendent James Conway said there is a possibility it is gang-related.
He added: "We believe all the victims to the shooting were known to each other but they were not related.
"I want to offer my most sincere condolences to the family and friends of the victims and also to all of those affected in the wider community by this incident."
Extra officers are expected to be deployed to the streets of Hackney to reassure the local community.
Hackney Police have said that they were authorised additional stop and search powers overnight in response to the shooting.
These extra powers are due to expire at 8am this morning (December 7).
Following the fatal shooting in Hackney last night, a Section 60 has been authorised for the whole of Hackney from 17:00hrs this evening until 08:00hrs on Thursday 7 December.
