Shots were fired in the same Hackney street where a woman was fatally gunned down three days later. 

Police said that they responded to reports of a shooting in Vine Close, Lower Clapton, on Saturday evening (December 2). 

Officers found shell casings at the scene, but there was no trace of any victim or suspect.

Yesterday evening (December 5), 42-year-old Lianne Gordon was fatally shot in the same spot. 

Two others were wounded by gunfire - a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy.

Both have been treated in hospital and their condition is not life-threatening. 

Police are now investigating whether the two incidents are linked. 

No motive has been given for the shooting, but speaking close to the crime scene in Rendlesham Road earlier today (December 6), Hackney Chief Superintendent James Conway said there is a possibility it is gang-related. 

He added: "We believe all the victims to the shooting were known to each other but they were not related.

"I want to offer my most sincere condolences to the family and friends of the victims and also to all of those affected in the wider community by this incident."

Extra officers are expected to be deployed to the streets of Hackney to reassure the local community. 

Speaking alongside DCI Conway, Mayor of Hackney Caroline Woodley said: "This is an absolutely heartbreaking incident and my thoughts and everyone at the council's are with the loved ones of Lianne and of the other injured victims.

"We are working with the police to support the families of the victims and will continue to do so in the coming weeks and months. 

"We are also working with local schools and community groups to offer any support they need. 

"While instances like this are thankfully rare in Hackney, we know that the community will be shocked worried and distressed."

A police cordon is still in place covering part of Rendlesham Road and Vine Close.

Flowers were laid nearby alongside a card which said: “To Lianne: Such a beautiful soul gone too soon!”
