A man has been arrested after a dog was filmed apparently being beaten with a spade in a viral video.
The Metropolitan Police were called at around 10.55am on Wednesday (November 8) to an address in East London to reports of a man assaulting a dog in the back garden of a property.
Officers attended and found a dog with injuries.
A spokesperson for the force said the dog was taken to an animal hospital and treated for facial injuries. It remains in stable condition, they added.

Videos believed to be of the incident and shared on social media claimed that the incident took place in Hackney.

While no one was said to be present at the scene when the police attended, a man reportedly visited a police station on Thursday (November 9).
He has since been arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty.
Officers have urged anyone with information to call 101 quoting CAD 2303/8NOV.
