Four new cycle lanes have been launched in north and east London, increasing the size of the capital’s network to more than 350km.
The new cycle routes connect Clapton, Tottenham and Stratford to Waltham Forest, and Southgate to Palmers Green.
It means that more than half of people in Enfield live within 400m of the cycle network, and around 40% of those living in Waltham Forest.
In total, TfL has launched 16 new cycleways this year, and has almost quadrupled the size of the network since 2016.
Cycleway 23 connects Lea Bridge in Clapton to Woodford New Road, with cycleway 24 providing a new route between Tottenham Hale and Whipps Cross.
Chobham Manor in Newham is now connected to Blackhorse Road by cycleway 26, and cycleway 58 runs between Southgate and Palmers Green.
Councillor Clyde Loakes, Waltham Forest deputy leader and cabinet member for climate and air quality, said: “It’s fantastic that we have continued to build on the progress we’ve made in Waltham Forest towards safe cycling routes for everyone– and that we are linking up with our neighbouring boroughs so that people can feel confident and safer cycling longer distances across our great city.
“As we come up to 10 years since the introduction of the original ‘mini-Holland’ scheme across Waltham Forest we can see from the numbers of residents now regularly cycling how much of a difference it has made in enabling and supporting more residents to take up everyday cycling.”
