A dead man has been pulled from an east London canal after a member of the public spotted a body in the water.
Police were called to Lea Bridge Road over the River Lea at 10.40am this morning (June 11).
Officers, including the police marine unit, responded and carried out a search of the water.
At 12.54pm the body of a man was found and recovered from the canal.
A police spokesperson said that his death is being treated as unexpected but that initial enquiries suggest the circumstances are not suspicious.
They added that officers are working to inform the man’s next of kin.
