A man was taken to hospital after a fire in a block of flats.
Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled the blaze in a third-floor flat in Millfields Road, Hackney, after being called at 12.33pm yesterday.
A single-room apartment was destroyed by the fire.
Firefighters wearing breathing-apparatus led a man to safety from the fourth floor via the internal stairwell.
The fire was under control by 1.43pm.
A man was taken to hospital and the London Ambulance Service also treated a woman at the scene.
Fire crews from Homerton, Leyton, Walthamstow and Bethnal Green stations attended the fire.
The cause is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
