Police are investigating after a Jewish teenager was attacked while walking down a street.

The boy was walking in Rookwood Road, Stoke Newington, at around 5.55pm on Saturday, May 11 when he was approached by another male and allegedly had something thrown at him.

The incident was reported to police the next day and an investigation was launched by officers in Hackney.

At this stage, the incident is being treated as hate crime, Scotland Yard said.

Volunteer security group @Shomrim (Stamford Hill) retweeted a video on X on May 23 in which a youth, one of a group of three, appears to chase a man in Orthodox dress and then throw something at him as he runs away.

A Met spokesperson said: "We are aware of a video being shared online and this will form part of our enquiries.

"We are in contact with the Shomrim and our enquiries are ongoing.

"No arrest have been made at this time."
